In 1752 when One Drake Road was built, the Drawing Room was placed near the front door
so that it was easily accessible and designed to be impressive.
Drawing rooms were a place to greet visitors and where the women of the house could retreat.
The Drawing Room has an air of richness and grandeur with fine furniture and paintings.
Our Drawing Room is a spacious airy room, with views overlooking buildings of architectural interest with distant views of the Dartmoor hills and rolling Devonshire countryside.
We have recently redecorated the Drawing Room using Farrow & Ball Stiffkey Blue.
This inky Blue is named after the Norfolk beach where the mud, along the cockles, share a particular deep navy hue complemented by Down Pipe skirting boards to create a richly dramatic room with a slightly contemporary finish.
Open from 8am until 10pm with an open, wood fire from around 4pm during the winter months.
There are lots of current magazines and books available to read.
