The home of character stays
At the heart is our award winning guesthouse and five private apartments in central Tavistock, alongside a riverside cottage in Calstock, Cornwall, and a village house near Lucca, Tuscany.
The main house began life in 1752 as an inn on the old cobbled coach road from London to Truro, which today forms our courtyard. Inside you will find a welcoming drawing room and six individually styled bedrooms, all with quality bedding, in room tea and coffee and Neal’s Yard organic toiletries, because comfort should always feel effortless.
Just 60 yards from Bedford Square and close to Tavistock’s much loved restaurants, we are perfectly placed for exploring the town and visiting Mount Kelly. We host with real intention, celebrating local makers, supporting our community and putting sustainability at the heart of what we do.

Early Check-In and or Late Check-Out
We often get asked about early check-in and late check-out—good news, we can arrange it!
For £20, you can check in from around 12 noon or stay a little longer until 12 midday.
Breakfast
Breakfast is available for £10 per person and can be served in your room, the drawing room, or the courtyard garden. Exclusively for our hotel guests.

You’ll find parking in Tavistock easy, with plenty of on-street and car park options including outside the house.

We offer free digital WiFi throughout the house, plus a laptop, printer, and iPad for you to use whenever you need.
Housekeeping
To keep our prices as low as possible, we don’t offer daily housekeeping during your stay. But if you need extra towels, tea, coffee, or anything else to make your stay more comfortable, just let us know.

Payment
All major credit/debit cards accepted but cash is always preferred.
Cancellation policy listed below.
No shows will be charged
the full amount.
Bicycles
Bicycles can be stored and secured in our courtyard or in our garage adjacent to the house. We advise that you keep them locked up as usual.
Lost property
Unfortunately we cannot accept responsibility for items left on our property.
We charge a minimum of £10 to package and return items via recorded delivery.
Check in and out times
Check in is from 4pm.
Check out by 10am.
Early check-in and late check-out
are available at £20 each.
Arriving at One Drake Road
Please use the 'dark grey' front door' located at the side of the house on Drake Road. Apartment guests please use the entrance via the green stairs leading into the courtyard.
In-room facilities
All rooms come with tea and coffee-making facilities and a hairdryer. Need an iron and ironing board? Just ask! We also have plates, cutlery, and glasses available on request, plus a laundry service if you need it.
Pets
To ensure the comfort of all our guests, we unfortunately don’t allow pets at One Drake Road but do welcome them in our private apartments at £30 per stay.
Accessibility
The hotel is situated within a Georgian town house over three floors. There are staircases and no lift. The main entrance is accessed via three steps. Read more here.
Exclusive use

Cancellation Policy - for bookings made with us directly or via our own website
We have a fourteen day cancellation policy.
In the event of non-arrival, or cancellation made after 2pm fourteen days prior to your booked arrival date,
a charge equivalent to the rate booked for your stay will be charged to your credit/debit card.
But in the event of you cancelling within the fourteen days prior to your arrival, if we can resell the room(s) you will be given a full refund.
Should you decide to book via an online travel agent, the booking policy applied to that agent and or booking will be adhered to.
